Maruti Suzuki has announced that it will discontinue all diesel cars from its line-up by 31 March, 2020. This decision, the carmaker explained is driven by the upcoming BS VI norms, which will come into effect in India on 1 April, 2020. Maruti Suzuki added that upgrading its diesel engines to ensure compliance with the stringent emission regulations under the purview of BS 6 will cause the cars to lose the ‘competitive price’ factor.
